Come be a part of the vibrant community of volunteers who share this amazing property! RAIN (Rancho Aficionados Inspired by Nature) members are instrumental in providing public access opportunities and creating a vibrant People Powered Preserve. RAIN is a small permit program in its 2nd year. Participants commit to volunteering 70(ish) hours a year to Rancho Mark West, in exchange for Passive Access to the property. This program is specific to Rancho Mark West, and does not include other LandPaths’ properties. Rancho Mark West is located on St. Helena Road in Santa Rosa. This is a pilot permit program aimed to engage and expand community access to RMW. Members will assist in building a community of neighbors, participants, and visitors that will become a strong stewarding force for the future of Rancho Mark West– a People Powered Preserve. How to Join
1.Attend the onsite orientation/training session on March 22nd
2.Complete an Agreement Form / Liability Waiver at the orientation
3.Enjoy and record at least 70 hours of volunteer time at Rancho Mark West over the course of a calendar year (or the equivalent in skilled labor)
4.Participate in one or more of four specific roles outlined below
5.Enjoy Rancho Mark West through Passive Access
Rancho Mark West Permit Holders will play a crucial role in building a community of neighbors, participants, and visitors that will become a strong stewarding force for the future of Rancho Mark West– a People Powered Preserve. Following the training session, Permit Holders will enjoy and record (50) hours of volunteer time per calendar year in specific areas including Hike/Event Assistance, Youth Mentorship, Garden Stewardship and Facilities Stewarship.
• Participation in the program is free of charge.
When and Where:
We will meet at 10 am March 22nd at Rancho Mark West. The training will last for two hours. Participants are encouraged to stay longer to participate in garden stewardship with other members of the program. Directions will be sent to participants.
What to bring:
Sturdy boots or shoes, weather appropriate clothes in layers (we will be outdoors), picnic lunch & water, notebook & pen, walking stick or hiking poles if you wish.
You will be asked to sign a liability waiver.
There is one porta-potty and two rustic outhouses on the property
There is potable water available on the property.
No pets or smoking are permitted and absolutely no smoking pets!
