This event will move forward in a light rain, but likely be cancelled in a heavy rain.  If the weather looks questionable, please call the LandPaths Outings line (707- 544-7284, then press 1) on Saturday morning by 9am for an update.  If there is no special message regarding this day, it is on as planned. 

 


Join The Watershed Stewards Program and LandPaths for a day of stewardship at Rancho Mark West.  All tasks for this day are tied directly to the health of Mark West Creek.  Tasks for the day will include:  Clearing invasive blackberry and tearing down old farm fencing, organic gardening and some work around the rain water catchment system onsite. 

Directions:  

Rancho Mark West - 7125 St. Helena Road, northeast of Santa Rosa.  From Santa Rosa: take Highway 12 towards Sonoma and go left at Calistoga Road.  Take Calistoga Road 3.3 miles up and over a short grade (approx. 5 minutes from intersection with Highway 12).  Turn right at St. Helena Road. 7125 St. Helena Road is approximately 2.6 miles from the intersection with Calistoga Road.  You will know you are almost there when you emerge into a clearing of Christmas Trees on the right.  Turn right into the driveway and park along the right above the portapotty.  Please walk East on the ranch road towards the historic red barn and the garden. Allow 20-25 minutes from downtown Santa Rosa.

What to bring:
  • snacks, lunch and water
  • layers and weather appropriate clothing
  • garden gloves (for those who wish to lend a hand)
Details:
  • Please park around the main circle area just as you enter the property and walk the short distance to the historic red barn beside the garden (more details sent to registrants)
  • You will be asked to sign a liability waiver.
  • There is a porta-potty and rustic outhose on the property 
  • There is potable water available on the property.
  • No pets or smoking are permitted and absolutely no smoking pets!
  •  Late arrivals and early departures are totally fine!
