Description:Come explore the Mayacamas side of the 3,000 acre Modini Mayacamas Preserves. This  wildflower hot-spot is protected by OSD “Forever Wild” easements, and has extraordinary views of the region. These steep, wild properties host lion and bear, eagles, pileated wood-peckers and Mountain quail.  Join Preserve Naturalist David Self for a hike around Redhill, with side trip to the peak, then down thru Pine Flat, and back along the road. We'll appreciate the views and wildflowers, and we'll look for for evidence of Wappo, Russian, Mining, Ranching and modern influences. More >>

Description: A full moon night is an enchanting way to experience the Bohemia Ecological Preserve. Get your warm (and layered!) clothes on and join docents Ann and Alicia to view the Full Moon from the Top of the World. We’ll drive to the top of the first hill (Hut Hill), gather for introductions and instructions. Then we'll walk in silence to appreciate the evening, to the Top of the World for a view of the entire valley. Bring your sense of adventure for this journey.  As we view the sunset, we will also enjoy the full moon rising! More >>

Plants grown in the nursery at Bayer Farm will be used in restoration projects at the preserves. Volunteers are needed to help us propagate, transplant, and grow our native plants! Description:Join us as we welcome summer with a special day-long workshop with dragonfly-expert Kathy Biggs. Kathy will share the biology, life cycle, and ecology of Odonata (the family to which dragonflies and damselflies belong) and learn how to identify the most common species in Sonoma County. The afternoon field trip will be an opportunity to practice identification skills and to observe the unusual and fascinating behaviors of dragonflies. Learn about how the Laguna de Santa Rosa is part of the Pacific Flyway, used not only by birds but by "Odes" (dragonflies) too!  Bring your own sack lunch. Coffee, tea and snacks will be provided.
