"It was an exciting day though I was a little nervous at the beginning because many of the people had never paddled before. By the end of the trip everyone was an expert and they all loved it. I think everyone in the group wants to come back and do it again. We started out with frowns and worries and ending up with all smiles." -David Hansen, Trip Leader
LandPaths' Vamos Afuera Program recently teamed up with Friends of the Petaluma River for a day of paddling. There was a great turnout for the event, with multiple generations represented- even three generations in one boat! It was the first time many in the group had been in a canoe or kayak, yet they successfully maneuvered their way into town and back towards Schoellenberger Park, admiring the land and wildlife protected by our partners in the Open Space District. Many thanks to longtime friends and dear supporters of LandPaths, David Hansen and Alfredo Gomez, for helping to make this event possible.
This outing was guided by LandPaths and Friends of the Petaluma River, and funded by the Sonoma County Agricultural Preservation and Open Space District. Each year LandPathspartners with the Open Space District to offer nearly 40 outings to the public, free of charge. Through this partnership, and all of our programs, LandPaths aims to ensure that everyone who lives here in Sonoma County receives a warm and welcoming invitation to get outside.
