Are you interested in learning all about what it takes to run a successful community garden? Consider becoming a community garden intern with LandPaths! Bayer Farm, Santa Rosa’s Roseland neighborhood, and Jeff Bodwin Community Garden, in southwest Santa Rosa, together contain 120 garden plots adopted out to community members in addition to a teaching garden for students to learn about growing food and nutrition. The internship is offered on a part-time basis, unpaid, up to 20 hours per week, with an option of work in exchange for course credit.

INTERNSHIP TASKS

  • Assist with farming tasks like planting, wedding, and harvesting. 
  • Help out with program management, including assisting the senior garden specialist with scheduling, leading groups and data tracking. 
  • Provide participation support, including assisting the senior garden specialist with gardeners and volunteers. 

SKILLS NEEDED  

  • Dependability and reliability, and availability to work occasional weekends or evenings. Bilingual (English/Spanish) is beneficial but not required. 
  • A positive attitude and excitement about working outdoors in a garden for a few hours.  
  • The ability to commit to working at least one day per work, Monday through Friday, between 8am – 4:30pm.
