Today, we’re featuring a guest post from Katrina Anderson, an Ambassador Girl Scout in Sonoma County. Please enjoy!

My name is Katrina Anderson and I’m an Ambassador Girl Scout. The Girl Scout Gold Award is the highest achievement any Senior or Ambassador Girl Scout can earn.

The Gold Award encourages girls to think critically, be open to multiple perspectives, investigate thoroughly, work cooperatively, identify resources within and beyond their local communities, and develop into leaders for today and tomorrow.

For my Gold Award project, I wanted to teach a healthy lifestyle to anyone in my community by building a community garden plot at LandPaths’ Bayer Farm on West Avenue in Santa Rosa. I actually got in contact with Jonathan Bravo, Bilingual Garden Specialist at LandPaths, which stewards Bayer Farm. Without him, my project would’ve never happened. I also wanted to thank The Boys And Girls Club of Santa Rosa for giving me the opportunity to teach the kids about gardening and healthy eating. I taught the youth the importance of gardening and healthy eating by creating a cookbook of fun recipes that the youth could enjoy eating.
