At LandPaths’s popular spring break nature camp, campers get to learn and play for a week at lovely Preston Farm in Healdsburg’s Dry Creek Valley. Nestled between a meandering stream and a sleep stretch of a former wagon trail, the farm is a model of diversified farming with vegetable fields, fruit and olive trees, grain, and pastured animals.

Your camper will plant and harvest with Farmer Kristin. They’ll play nature games and sing songs with LandPaths’ amazing youth team, and learn all about the plants, animals, and beneficial insects that make Preston Farm so special.

At the heart of our camp is the opportunity for every camper to build memorable connections with the land, a foundation for a healthy community that deeply values caring for each other and the land.

ESPAÑOL

El Campamento de Primavera es un programa de día, inspirado en nuestro galardonado programa de educación ambiental, In Our Own Backyard (IOOBY). Los estudiantes aprenderán y jugarán mientras exploran Preston Farm and Winery.

Scholarships/Becas

LandPaths is actively committed to making camp accessible for all youth, regardless of historical and systemic socioeconomic inequities. We offer scholarships to 40% of our participants, with the goal of a camp that is a true reflection of all of us who live here in Sonoma County.

Scholarships and partial scholarships are available. If you need tuition assistance, please fill out a Scholarship Application online BEFORE you register for camp. You can also call, and we can assist in filling out the form. Scholarships are available based on need, funding availability and will be awarded on a rolling basis until filled. Each scholarship recipient is asked to pay a minimum of $50.

**Filling out the scholarship application does not guarantee a scholarship. PLEASE wait LandPaths’ staff to contact you with a scholarship approval before you register.

Staff Safety Training

Our staff are CPR and First Aid-certified, skilled and trained outdoor educators bringing years of experience working with youth in outdoor settings. The staff to youth ratio is generally 1 to 12. We also have many wonderful and trained volunteers, making the adult to youth ratio closer to 1 to 4. All Camp staff and volunteers have been fingerprinted for background checks.

Personal

The results of the U.S. presidential election, one week ago, sent shockwaves through our community, neighborhoods, and families. It makes a person pause, and it certainly should. Caring for the Land at Ya-Ka-Ama Indian Educational Center

Stewardship is a strengthening of the relationship between person and land. When we steward, we connect directly with the plants and animals, fungi and watersheds, but we also connect with history. This is because for tens of thousands of years people have lived on this land and cared for it, as we try to now.

In Sonoma County, these people are the Pomo, Coast Miwok, and Mishewal Wappo. They are represented through various federally recognized and unrecognized tribes. On August 31, we had the privilege of joining community stewards and Sonoma Earth School in an amazing day of stewardship at Ya-Ka-Ama Indian Education and Development, Inc.
