Youth Field Specialist
Jordan Moore-Butler
Jordan (he/him/el) joined LandPaths in 2025 as a Youth Education Field Specialist. Through the Rooting Youth in Nature initiative, he facilitates field trips and outdoor adventures built around connecting youth with the natural world. In the years prior to joining LandPaths, Jordan worked as a school mentor with underserved youth and as a plant advocate (self-bestowed title) at a garden center. He is very excited to bridge these worlds as a longtime believer in the transformative power of nature.
Born in San Francisco, Jordan spent many of his early days looking for critters under logs in the presidio before his family moved across the country at the age of 5. In high school, his family moved back to the Bay Area, where he now lives, spending much of his time in nature learning what it means to care for and be a part of the land.
Following his undergraduate education at UC Davis, Jordan began streaming himself playing video games in his free time. Through connecting with viewers, he realized how many of them were young people dealing with loneliness. By organizing events and creating digital spaces for them to connect, he helped to create a community in which many created lasting friendships. Despite this, his own childhood reminds him of the value of getting outdoors. By drawing on his lived experiences, he hopes to be able to contribute to a sense of community and belonging for youth here in Sonoma County.
